During KC Fringe (which was held virtually this year), I participated in a Q&A session hosted by Ashley Helm. With Ashley’s blessing – and the understanding that any profit made from this episode (which is none) – I have included it in today’s episode.
This is the third and final episode recorded for the 2020 Kansas City Fringe Festival (pandemic necessitated virtual edition). We welcome Luke and Dan back to the podcast.
Among the topics discussed:
Mike’s DoorDash experiences (including a Top 10 places he has delivered from)
Talk about soccer and guessing who all has won the UEFA Champions League/European Cup
Talking about the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (of all teams)
Here is a chart of which teams have won and/or participated in a Champions League/European Cup final. Despite Luke’s insistence, neither Manchester City nor Paris Saint-Germain will be appearing on this list. (Correction: PSG did make the 2019-20 Champions League final, which took place long after we recorded this episode AND long after virtual Fringe took place.)
This is correct as of the 2019-20 Champions League:
Country
Clubs That Have Won the Cup
Clubs That Have Gotten to the Cup Finals
Spain
Real Madrid (13) Barcelona (5)
Atletico Madrid (3 times) Valencia (2 times)
Italy
AC Milan (7) Inter Milan (3) Juventus (2)
Fiorentina Roma Sampdoria
England
Liverpool (6) Manchester United (3) Nottingham Forest (2) Aston Villa (1) Chelsea (1)
Monaco Paris Saint-Germain Saint-Etienne Stade de Reims (2)
Serbia (Former Yugoslavia)
Red Star Belgrade (1)
Partizan Belgrade
Greece
Panathinaikos
Belgium
Club Brugge

Malmo FF
Also important to point out:
David Beckham never played for Arsenal. He played for Manchester United, Preston North End (on loan), Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan (on loan twice), and Paris Saint-Germain.
Mike Alstott played fullback – an offensive position – for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is the second of our three shows for the 2020 Kansas City Fringe Festival (pandemic necessitated virtual edition). This is also the first time we’ve had a returning guest on the podcast, as Adam McKeith returns.
This is the first of three episodes that were submitted to the 2020 Kansas City Fringe Festival (pandemic necessitated virtual edition). Our guest in this episode is Kansas City filmmaker Brian Boye. Brian and Mike have known each other since Mike first got involved in local independent film in 2004.
Brian’s stated goal: to have his episode get more unique downloads than Pat Lamb and Trevor Martin (our first two episodes) combined.
Among the things we talk about: the different films Brian has made (some with Mike’s help), barbecue (which was kicked off by talking about ThanksRibbing), and other topics.
Brian’s “Famous Last Words” documentary:
Brian’s “New Jersey: The Musical”:
Here is Brian’s “No H8 NB,” the anti-Nickelback short that went viral in Albany, NY:
Sadly, “F’n Bottle of Bleach” is no longer available on YouTube. I suspect neither is Dave Berry’s final film about the Pizza Hunter, nor the One Night Stand films mentioned in the episode.
The Star Trek: TNG scene referenced in the episode:
I want to give a special thanks to everyone who appeared in Season 2 of This Podcast Is… Uncalled For, whether as an interviewee or as part of the archival footage used in the podcast.
Host: Mike Czerniewski
Interviewees/Live Participants (in alphabetical order):
It’s been mentioned before, so we’re devoting a whole episode to it: Mike’s love of Star Trek.
Mike shares a few thoughts about the franchise that Gene Roddenberry started, shares a few top 10 lists, and his top 20 episodes that aren’t on these lists. Fortunately for all concerned, “Space Seed” – a TOS episode Mike feels is highly overrated – is not on any of these lists.

We forgot to include “Bar Association” in our recording. That one features Quark’s brother Rom starting a union for the employees at Quark’s Bar.
Thanks to a suggestion made on this very podcast, Mike has essential work during this pandemic:
DoorDash Delivery Driver (aka Dasher)
In this video, Mike takes you through what a delivery looks like. Simple stuff, and it gets him out of the house (or should we just call it what it is: house arrest).
George Dean is an actor, musician and artist currently based in Denver, Colorado. Before Denver, however, he was based in Lawrence, Kansas and worked on a variety of projects – including Tales from the Interim Net as Dr. Stanton Kingston.
Today we talk about the Tales experience, film and arts in Kansas City, and so much more.
True fact: As has been established on the podcast, Mike is a Shawnee Mission West alumnus. As are actors Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis. Rudd graduated long before Mike ever set foot in the school’s halls; Sudeikis’ senior year coincided with Mike’s freshman year there (and, no, Mike did not know Sudeikis at West).
Tales from the Interim Net – Episode Zeta: “The Rebirth of Aikori” – This episode of Tales features today’s guest. It was originally in the show notes for Adam McKeith’s episode, but we’ve included it here as well just in case.
Chris Lyman first met Mike while auditioning for Tales from the Interim Net – and got the role of Zenchou (pronounced zehn-choh), a cyborg grown in a lab – and speaks Japanese.
“Episode Gamma: Kata of the Dragonborn” is the episode featuring today’s guest.
Today, Chris talks about his experience working with Mike on the project, Mike’s own cerebral and intelligent manner, and Chris’ own podcasting efforts.
The Iroha poem (as read in this episode and in the web series)
